MILLBILLILLIE EUCRITE AUSSIE METEORITE

$300 SOLD

Specifications: 20.04Grams

Spectacular complete specimen with cascading fusion crust and defined edges.

This specimen is 100% crusted in a thick black glossy calcium-rich crust with exotic and abundant flow lines viewable from every possible angle. The fusion crust on this beauty gives the impression it is literally molten, with cascading flow lines down the sides. There are beautifully defined edges, so fresh that residual crust spiking is still present.

The Millbillillie meteorite fall in the Wiluna district of Western Australia was witnessed in the form of a fireball and shower of sparks by station workers on the plains of Millbillillie and Jundee Stations in October 1960. Contrary to popular reports, a number of specimens were collected in the early 1960s but an extensive search was not initiated until some ten years later. Millbillillie is popular amongst collectors both as a representative eucrite fall and for its beauty – specimens often exhibit a well preserved glossy black fusion crust with flow-lines, crust accumulation areas and superb orientation.
